Pepper’s Radio Flyer, 2025
Kenzie Housego and Devin Giles. Mobile public installation, Night Light Festival 2025, Calgary, AB.
Tricycle, vintage radio box, LEDs, LCD screens, programmed Rasberry Pi’s.
Created for Night Light, 2025, an interactive art and light installation festival. Pepper’s Radio Flyer is a mobile artwork blending nostalgia and tech. Built with a reclaimed retro radio, LCD screens, LED, and multiple promgramed Rasberry Pi’s, all mounted on the tricycle. The art bike features three mobile analog holograms, a version of the Pepper’s ghost illusion. Pepper’s ghost is an illusion technique used in theater, TV, movies, concerts, sideshows, and amusement parks, where an image of an off-stage object is projected to appear as if it is floating in front of the audience, resembling a hologram. The art bike roamed the 3 day festival, engaging audiences.
