Language of Flowers, 2020

21st-century flower messages in bell jars, installation over one week, various sizes.

I collected five undelivered messages about love, sensuality, and dating, written by 21st-century daters to current or former partners, and reinterpreted them as symbolic floral arrangements using Kate Greenaway's 1884 floriography dictionary, Language of Flowers. The messages range from hurt feelings and a wish for a marriage proposal to deep affection and unrequited love.
